Annual Show 2009

The 16th Annual Show on Saturday 25 July was once again held at The Crescents Community Centre, Laburnham Crescent, Kettering. The Show Judge was Alan Solomans, a BFS National Judge, who was very complimentary on the exhibits he was being asked to judge.

Doors were open to the public at 11.00am after the judging. Despite problems with the weather pattern over the preceeding months that was not fuchsia friendly, the quality, range and number of exhibits was as good as ever and showed the dedication and skill of the exhibitors.

As always the plant stall, cake table, tombola and refreshments proved very popular. Again, we were delighted once again to welcome the Mayor of Kettering to the show who spent a considerable amount of time viewing the exhibits and quizzing the exhibitors.

Our thanks for a successful show go to a hardworking team led by Laurence Callaghan and Charles Swann.

Annual Show 2010

Our 17th Annual Show will be held at The Crescents Community Centre, Laburnum Crescent, Kettering on Saturday 31st July 2010. Doors are open to the public from 11am to 4pm.

There are classes for members of the Society only and classes open to any exhibitor. The details of classes, entry fees and closing date for entries will be in the Show Schedule and Regulations, available late April 2010 from the Show Secretary:

Would be exhibitors may wish to order a copy of the schedule in advance by writing to the Show Secretary, enclosing a stamped self addressed envelope.

At the show, as well as the display of fuchsias, there will be the ever popular plant sale area (not just of fuchsias), tombola, home made cake stall, raffle, various competitions and refreshments.

A visit by coach to the Malvern Autumn Show. A well deserved favourite with members this is the last major show of the gardening year, full of floral displays, three major halls packed with items of interest to the gardener, trade stands galore and glorious food. If you havn’t been before then you really ought to come with us, and if you have been before then you will no doubt want to come again. Coach from the Corn Market Hall in Kettering .

A visit by coach to the Royal Horticultural Society Garden at Wisley. A firm favourite with the Society, Wisley is full of interest at any time of the year: Lillies, gentians, Japanese Iris, primulas, water plants, formal gardens, mixed borders, herb gardens, rose garden and much, much more. An added attraction is the Bicentenary Glasshouse, which with restaurants, nursery and plant sales will ensure a good day out. Coach from the Corn Market Hall in Kettering.

Kettering and District Fuchsia Society’s Annual Christmas Bash. This is a ticket only event of fun, food, music, proper dancing and friendship. Not to be missed, so worth the membership fee just for this one meeting.
